CHIPPS BREAKFAST CLUB

HAPPY 2nd BIRTHDAY CHIPPS BREAKFAST CLUB

Congratulations to all members who have helped grow the Breakfast Club from the start 2 years ago. We have together managed to do a tremendous amount, not only for our own companies through networking but also helping different organizations and charities to gain not only awareness but to raise funds through different initiatives throughout the year. We have managed to link businesses with charities,  charities with funding streams and we have even managed to have charities raising monies for smaller charities who might not have the resources on their own. To date we have 160 members supporting Chippingdale Cricket Club in all areas of their initiatives. A big thank you to each and every one of you for your loyal and continued support, of which none of this could be achieved without you.

The key objective is to host a forum for our local partners in order

for them to showcase their organisation and in doing bring the

wider Worthing Community closer together. The stated vision

being... “To provide a friendly atmosphere where local partners

who value community cohesion, can develop wider relationships

with businesses and other organisations.”

The companies in attendance were: Sussex County CC, IEP Financial, Queen Alexandra Hospital Home, Guild Care,Facination, Rabbit,Bennett and Griffin,West Sussex Mediation Services, Chippingdale CC, Ardington Hotel, We’ll Do It Removals, Pete Mansell Decorating Services, Worthing Chuches Homeless Project,  Peter Cook Electrical, Worthing and Adur Chamber of Comnmerce, Enable Me Project, Outreach, Arundel Castle Cricket Club, Voluntary Action Services - thank you all those who attended.

We started the morning with a fantastic breakfast supplied by the Ardington hotel. First on the agenda was to welcome and thank every one for attending including some new attendees.

Pete Mansell kindly supplied the infamous quiz and the winner of this was Tina Tilley from Worthing and Adur Chamber of Commerce who won two tickets to watch a Sussex Pro 40 cricket game of her choice kindly donated by Sussex CCC.

Every breakfast club we try to have at least one Key Speaker, today we have been very lucky to have two great speakers.

First up was James Rufey Executive Secretary Arundel Cricket Club and Cricket Foundation who delivered an insperational talk on Arundel Castle foundation and all the great work they do .Thank you James.

Second up was Richard Deniese from Outreach along with Steve Feazy from Sussex CCC who both delivered a fantastic talk on disability sport within the Sussex area.

Pete Mansell is liaising with our  young leaders to help local charities and organizations and they may even get the chance to have work experience with some of our business members.

A new initiative was launched via Sarah Grinnell from IEP Financial. We feel the need to do more for the businesses within our Breakfast Club to liaise through networking and publicize each others businesses, with this in mind Sarah will be contacting you all to arrange business to business coffee meetings to gain in site into each others businesses and promote local companies and organizations.

Next was the chance for each company to give an update on their business activities and promotions.

I would like to express my thanks to every one for their continued support in the great work we have already achieved and look forward to achieving a lot more in the future.

10th July 2015

CHIPPS BREAKFAST CLUB X1 vs CARPENTER BOX

Chippingdale Cricket Club hosted a charity fundraiser cricket match between Chipps Breakfast Club vs Carpenter Box, where we played a 22 over per side pairs cricket with every player having the opportunity to bat and bowl.

We were very lucky with the weather and the match began at 6.00pm with both sides entering into the spirit of the game with some impressive fielding, bowling and batting shown throughout in fact I think we may have found some new budding cricketers for next season. It was expressed at the beginning of the game fun was the key word and this was taken literally with quite a bit of sledging and mickey taking and over appealing took common place .

Carpenter Box batting first amassed a total of 278 with them scoring a massive 78 in the last 2 overs of power play.

A break for light refreshments and then back out for the second innings of Chipps Breakfast Club. Although they battled well unfortunately they failed to reach the total set by Carpenter Box and finished on 214.

Surprisingly for the Rotary the weather remained mild and with no wind in site everyone enjoyed a fantastic BBQ, teas, coffees, beers, puddings and salad bar.

Following a short speach by Paul Wood and Paul Baker the runners up and winners were presented with medals and a free raffle of wines and chocolates..

Since the match Paul Allright from Carpenter Box has made contact with Paul Wood to thank everyone who helped, played or just supported which helped to make this the fantastic evening it was.

From the evening we managed to raise £366.48 which is a fantastic amount from one cricket game, many thanks to all involved.

5th May 2014

Chipps Breakfast Club Charity Match - Chips Breakfast Club XI v Worthing Churches Homeless Project XI

At 2.00pm the teams took to the field to start the first innings of the 20/20 pairs cricket.

After Chipps Breakfast Club's 20 overs they amassed a total of 268 runs with some fantastic batting being displayed, considering some players had never previously played the game before. Also the bowlers demonstrated some superb skills along with some very enthusiastic fielding.

Break for tea and refreshments, thank you kindly to Lisa Mansell, Dee Whittington, Jane Partridge and Carol Wood and what has come accustomed with Chipps teas fantastic.

Fed and watered the players returned for the second innings. Worthing Churches Homeless Project XI batting with both teams again demonstrating their will to win but with humour and enthusiasm . At the close of WCHP innings 252 just falling short of the Chipps Breakfast Clubs Total.

Chipps Brakfast Club XI win by 16 runs.

Memorable moments of the match:-

  • Anton taking a stunning catch on the boundary

  • Jane partridge taking a skyer.

  • Alex for trying hard but not quite succeeding.

  • Man of the match going to Russell Shockbridge for his excellent batting.

  • Umpires Dick Smith and Chris Clynes for the humour and on field coaching.

Thank you to all the spectators who came along and supported their teams.

Thank you to both teams for providing the crowds with the entertainment.

Thank you to both teams for playing and entering into the spirit of the game.

Finally a huge thank you to Rachel from Worthing Churches Homeless Project for organizing her team and bringing so much support.

I am sure everyone who attended will agree the event was a great success with everyone enjoying themselves and raising over £500 for local charities it will now become an annual event.

6th December 2013

Breakfast Club Curry and Auction evening at The Mahaan … Pauls comments on the evening was WOW WOW WOW!!! and I think that aptly sums up their achievements with this new initiative! They had some fabulous prizes to auction including Candlelight Dinner for 2 donated by The Ardington Hotel, a Painter and Decorator for the day donated by Pete Mansell, Electrician for the day thanks to Pete Cook, top of the range microwave by Gary from Howdens, 3x4 ball Golf rounds donated by Hill Barn Golf Club, TOR B&W Headphones from Bowers & Wilkins, Cleaners for the day courtesy of Paul, Carol, AJ Wood, Jane and Lisa Mansell, Signed framed Sussex CCC Shirt from Paul Wood (which fetched a staggering £350!) Signed framed Brighton & Hove Albion Shirt from AJ Wood (also a staggering £325), 2 x Junior Sussex CCC memberships donated by Sussex County Cricket Club and a trip in a Supercar at Goodwood racetrack kindly donated by Peter from Saywell International which raised a monumental £420!!

In total the Auction raised over £2000 and this will be split equally between Chipps for the next phase of projects and Worthing Churches Homeless Projects - a Charity very close to us following the tragic death of Lee Rainford last year. I’m sure you will agree that this was clearly a huge success and really puts Chipps at the heart of the community. Well done to Paul and the team and many thanks to all who donated the auction prizes!
